How long are the appointments?
Usually you have a full hour of my time devoted to you. Some people prefer longer sessions. These can also be booked in advance if we both think it would be beneficial.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 48 hours notice of cancellation. This gives me enough time to rearrange my day to see waiting clients or do other work. If you don’t turn up for your appointment you will be charged the full fee.
Can I claim on Westfield or other Health Insurance policies for your treatments?
No, my particular mix of therapies and health coaching isn’t covered by health insurance policies.
Do you do home visits?
I don’t offer home visits for my hands-on therapy sessions. I do work with clients online in their own homes for the talking therapies and health coaching aspects of my work.
Do you do evening and weekend appointments?
Only in special circumstances. I take appointments to see clients on weekday afetrnoons until 6.30pm.
Does your bodywork therapy hurt?
No, sometimes it can be a little uncomfortable if your body has tightened, but I’ll always work within your comfort levels. I do not take the ‘no pain no gain’ approach to bodywork. My main aim is always for you to feel better. I don’t believe a person can be ‘tortured’ into being more relaxed.
What if I’m not very good at relaxing?
No problem, I can work with exactly where you’re at. I’m good at helping clients learn how to relax more.
Can I just come to you to talk about my problems?
Some clients feel that they need to do a ‘download’ or ‘dump their stuff’ before they can start to relax. You are welcome to do this as long as you’re willing to do something constructive to solve those problems. I’m very solution orientated in my approach and will help you find good solutions as we talk.
The key thing is that I provide a neutral, confidential and constructive space where you can vent and sort things out – away from your day-to-day life.
I’ve got a big decision to make – can you help?
Yes, I often see clients who have big decisions to make and need help with sorting out which way to go.
Isn’t it better to try and work things out myself?
Everybody benefits from having a support team. No person is an island and nobody makes good decisions from bad places. There’s no shame in asking for help, it’s a healthy sign of strength, not an unhealthy sign of weakness.
Will I have to do all the talking?
No, I find that the best work is done using normal 2-sided conversations. You won’t be expected to dig deep into your emotions and give me a monologue of your innermost insecurities. Instead we have good constructive, reflective, solution based conversations. I’ll probably ask you different questions to the ones you usually ask yourself. Answering them is usually fun and interesting for my clients and they get lots of ‘AHA!’s
I think I might be a bit embarrassed to let you work with my head or body – is this a problem?
Not at all. I’ve worked with so many people over the years I take things easily in my stride and can put you at ease. My clients often tell me how comfortable I make them feel, and how much they enjoy their appointments. It seems to be a gift of mine to make people feel welcome and relaxed in my practice room.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on what you are looking to achieve. Some people come with a specific thing that quickly gets sorted out in 1, 2 or 3 sessions. Others use me as one of their regular healthy habits, preferring to see me regularly over time. My regular clients may come monthly, weekly, fortnightly etc. – depending on their lifestyle and needs. We work together and decide what will work best for you. There are no hard and fast rules, just what suits you best.
There’s nothing particularly wrong with me, can I still come and see you?
Yes, Absolutely! Many of my regular clients are wonderfully healthy and use me for health-enhancement and relaxation purposes. An hour of relaxing bodywork is like having a mini-holiday from your busy life. Busy people need to stop, rest and recharge their batteries. I offer a very effective time- efficient way of you doing that.
