In 2019 we are celebrating my 25th year in professional practice. However…
I haven’t always been interested in ‘Health’
My motivation to learn about health only started after collapsing with a mystery illness that took me out of work for 3 years. I had no previous interested in being healthy. My main areas of interest were working hard then going out – drinking, going to gigs, partying and traveling.
“Live while you’re alive, sleep when you’re dead” …was my philosophy
…and I must admit, I had more fun than most people I knew. As far as I was concerned, being healthy was boring and just for boring people.
Unfortunately my body had a mind of its own. It did what it needed to get me to attend to its needs – it went on strike, collapsed and refused to allow me to walk, eat or even talk properly for months. At 23 years old I had turned from a fun-loving-party-girl into an invalid.
By the time I was 24, I had decided to exchange my hopeless frustration with being sick for a huge motivation to learn about managing health and stress. Medical doctors were at a loss as to how to help me, so the only solution was to work it out myself.
I found ways of improving my health using complementary medicine (Shiatsu and Acupuncture), then resolved to train to a professional standard so I could help others find ways to solve their seemingly unsolvable stress and health problems.
In 1994 I qualified as a Shiatsu practitioner and a Cranio-sacral therapist and started in private practice. By this time I’d turned my own health around and was highly motivated to help others do so too.
I’ve never stopped learning about proactive health care and I’m always looking for new insights into how to stay healthy and manage stress. There’s a lot of rubbish advice out there to sift through so I always try new strategies out for myself before offering them as options to my clients.
My updated philosophy is… “Never let being healthy ruin your fun and don’t allow your fun to ruin your health”
Since 1994 I’ve trained in many more health-related disciplines with some of the best teachers in the world. My thirst for knowledge and desire to help others has given me a unique set of skills, insighst and experience that I thoroughly enjoy sharing with my clients.
Most of my Clients are business owners and professionals who all work to high standards and have high expectations out of life. The thing that my clients and I have in common is that we all want to be happy. For this to happen we have to learn to create and cultivate the conditions to support a healthy mind, a healthy body and a healthy business.
